Melbourne punk icons The Fiction reveal their triumphant return after more than 40 years

Over 40 years after calling it quits, one of Melbourne’s oldest punk bands are back.

Formed in early 1978, The Fiction’s rise was short-lived, with the band parting ways less than a year into their career. More than four decades later, they’ve joined forces once again to drop a new album and hit stages in Japan and Melbourne alike.

Despite having penned over 20 original tracks in the late ’70s, The Fiction released their first album just last year, comprising a selection of their early work. Rather than leaving fans hanging for more, the band swiftly followed it up with the release of another album, Ramona, just a few months ago. Showcasing a batch of fresh tracks, Ramona proves that these Melbourne punks have still got it.

Fresh off the back of their Japan tour, The Fiction are set to cap off 2019 with a show at The Spotted Mallard alongside The Peptides, Ekranoplans, and Mike Mullholland later this month, where you can expect a dose of nostalgia and a hit of fresh tunes.

The Fiction hit The Spotted Mallard on Saturday December 28. Entry is free, more info here.
