Melbourne International Jazz Festival releases whopping 10-day program

Featuring local and international acts, and Aussie exclusives.

The Melbourne International Jazz Festival has dropped its ten-day program, jam-packed full of local legends, international icons and special events.

This winter, over 500 jazz artists will flock to Melbourne for the festival, taking over more than 25 venues across the city. The eclectic program sees the return of modern jazz king Herbie Hancock alongside the likes of national treasure Vince Jones, lauded pianist Billy Childs and trumpeterĀ Ambrose Akinmusire.

The festival represents and celebrates jazz in all its forms, brining experimental and contemporary artists to the forefront alongside the genre’s classics. Japanese collective Marginal Consort will expand your understanding of jazz while local artists Jazz Party and Thando demonstrate a new-age sound andĀ 60 Years Of Kind Of Blue: Reflections On A Miles Davis MasterpieceĀ by Ross James Irwin revisits the roots of the genre.

Along with performances from an array of jazz visionaries, Melbourne International Jazz Festival will showcase a number of film screenings, Australian exclusives and collaborations. There truly is something for everyone.
