Mask rules to be relaxed, workplace caps increased as Victoria records another doughnut day

The changes will come into play from Sunday midnight.

From midnight Sunday, the rules around face masks will revert back to what they were pre-Christmas, meaning masks will remain mandatory on public transport, flights, in taxis and ride sharing vehicles, supermarkets and indoor shopping centres.

No longer will they need to be worn in the workplace, yet it is recommended that they be worn in the situation where social distancing cannot be adhered to.

Alongside that, from Monday, workplace caps will increase to 50 per cent capacity while those in Victoria’s public service will be able to return to work at a 25 per cent capacity.

It comes after the state recorded another doughnut day of local COVID-19 transmissions – the eighth day in a row – while no new cases were recorded in hotel quarantine either. Some 16,533 test results were recorded on Wednesday and there are currently 29 active COVID-19 cases in the state.
