Magic Dirt, Baker Boy and Harvey Sutherland headline Reclink Community Cup’s 25th anniversary

Great musicians getting together for a great cause.

This year ‘marks’ (pun intended) the 25th anniversary of the beloved Reclink Community Cup, and organisers are celebrating the event with a bang.

Originating in Melbourne in 1993, the now national charity football match pits musicians against community radio in a fun, free for all match where few rules apply. Full of live bands, arts and crafts and the occasional streaker, the Reclink Community Cup is a fantastic celebration of the arts in Australia, all for a good cause.

The lineup for this year is Magic Dirt, Young Australian of the Year winner Baker Boy and Harvey Sutherland, with more artists to be announced.

Kicking off the match in Melbourne will be the Megahertz (community radio stations Triple R 102.7FM and PBS 106.7FM) playing against the ESPY Rockdogs (local musos).

This year’s theme is inspired by Aussie legends Paul Kelly and Kev Carmody’s classic hit ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’. Or, as some might remember it, that song from the Industry SuperFunds ad.

Past themes of the Reclink Community Cup include ‘Everyday People’, ‘Streets of Your Town’ and ‘Smells Like Team Spirit’. However, the most important reason to head down this year is that funds raised through the Reclink Community Cup series support Reclink Australia’s work with disadvantaged communities.
