Live N Local music festival wraps up its 2019 extravaganza with a bang

Start counting down the days ’til Live N Local 2020.

Southside music festival Live N Local has been and gone once again. This year’s eight-day extravaganza saw the best and brightest of Melbourne’s music scene head to venues across the City of Port Phillip.

Live N Local’s closing party, hosted by yours truly, featured the immeasurable talent of electro-pop trio Huntly, garage punk outfit Bad Bangs and groovy pop-rock quartet Purr Usual. Going down at the Espy’s Gershwin Room, the afternoon party was the perfect way to bid the festival adieu for another year — if we do say so ourselves.

If you’re fanging for your next southside music hit, St Kilda Fest is quickly getting closer and it’s calling out for emerging musicians to take the stage. The annual New Music Stage competition highlights the best up-and-comers, with Baker Boy, Missy Higgins and Client Liaison all alumni of the contest. Entrants will be in the running to join the ten-act über-talented shortlist, of which one act will get the chance to perform on the Main Stage the following year. Oh, and also they’ll go home with $5,000.
