The Texan trio have revealed the first single from their next LP.

On the back of their recent collaborative EP with Leon Bridges, Texas Sun, Khruangbin have announced they have a new album on the way. Titled Mordechai, the ten-track album is due for release in June.

Giving the first glimpse of the forthcoming record, Khruangbin have also released the first single from the album, ‘Time (You and I)’. Infusing funk, soul and disco while marrying Laura Lee Ochoa’s floating vocals with a slick, rhythmic beat, the single is a promising taste of Mordechai.

Known for their meandering, instrumental tracks, Khruangbin’s new album will feature more vocals than we’ve seen on their previous releases.

The trio were due to visit our shores this month, with their scheduled tour with Tame Impala set to wrap up today in Perth before coronavirus caused the shows to be postponed. While Khruangbin are unable to make the rescheduled Australian shows, news of their new album serves offers a little consolation for their Australian fans.

Accompanying the new single, they’ve also dropped a film clip for ‘Time (You and I)’, featuring comedians Stephen K. Amos and Lunga Skosana. Check it out below.

Mordechai is out on June 26 via Dead Oceans.
