Italian Cultural Institute celebrates the works of one of Italy’s greatest composers

Exploring the weird and curious works of Scelsi.

The Italian Cultural Institute is hosting an in-depth discussion and performance around one of Italy’s most prominent postmodern classical composers.

Leading the show is Italian violinist Marco Fusi, who’ll be discussing the works of renowned Italian composer Giacinto Scelsi. The composer is well-known for his works that focus solely around one pitch on the scale. One of Scelsi’s works is literally titled ‘Four Pieces on a single note’. Fusi will be talking all things Scelsi with musicologist Ian Parsons.

Following the discussion, Fusi will perform two masterpieces composed by Scelsi: ‘Xnoybis’ for solo violin and ‘Manto’ for viola.
