Grill’d For Good: Grill’d partners with The Y-House Foundation

In a joint venture to raise funds and, just as importantly awareness, The Y-House Foundation and Grill’d Elsternwick aim to raise $10,000 over this weekend of September 16-18, with $5 from every burger sold going directly to the charity. “So the idea behind Y-House is we’re trying to raise all this money to build a permanent facility,” explains Retallick. “It’s going to be nothing like a nursing home, nothing like a hospital, just a really beautiful homely environment where these young people can all live together, rehabilitate together.”

Being thoroughly impressed with the tireless work the young organisation had been doing over the last year, Grill’d Elsternwick owner Brent Howard is urging people to get behind the cause and help them raise the funds which will go into the building of the new facility. “The Y-House Foundation is such an amazing initiative,” says Howard. The work they have done in just a year is outstanding. We really just want to do something to help them continue this great work. Grill’d has a history of supporting worthy causes, and we couldn’t think of a cause more worthy in our local community.”

For Retallick the support The Y-House Foundation has received from the people at Grill’d has been incredibly important. “Grill’d has been absolutely amazing to us. Brett and his wife Pam are just gorgeous people. At the start of the year we had a big ball, that’s how I became friends with them; I’m in Grill’d all the time, I love Grill’d,” she laughs. “I became really close with Brett and his wife and they said that they liked the idea behind Y-House, especially because it’s going to eventually be built in the bay side area; in the Elsternwick area, and they offered to do this for us which is incredibly generous of them and we’re very grateful.”

“It would be brilliant to raise $10,000 for The Y-House Foundation,” adds Howard. “It would make such a difference to the charity that aims to help these young people with unique challenges in our community. So come and share the burger love!”
