G Flip takes out $30,000 Levi’s Music Prize

“The money will go to getting my little arse around the world to write for myself and for other artists,” she said.

Melbourne-based singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Georgia Flipo, aka G Flip, has taken out the coveted Levi’s Music Prize.

Now in its fourth year, the prestigious Levi’s Music Prize provides an artist or band with $25,000 courtesy of Levi’s Australia as well as an additional $5,000 for travel from Stage and Screen to help Australian and New Zealand acts break into the international industry.

Awarded four times each year, past winners include Gordon Koang, The Teskey Brothers, Ecca Vandal and Amyl & The Sniffers.

I’m so stoked, the money will go to getting my little arse around the world to write for myself and for other artists,” said Flipo upon being announced the winner. “Thank you so much Levi’s, thank you Stage and Screen, and thank you for supporting Australian music. It’s so brilliant that you do this and I thank you so much.”

The money will help G Flip build global relationships and fund writing trips to London and Los Angeles where Flipo will explore opportunities and collaborate with a range of musicians.

The Levi’s Music Prize is open to any Australian and New Zealand acts who have performed at BIGSOUND in the past five years.

Applications for Round 3 of the 2019/20 Levi’s Music Prize are open until March 10. Submit your application and find out more here
