More good news for Melbourne!

Following Premier Dan Andrews’ announcement yesterday that hospitality and retail will be permitted to reopen in metro Melbourne from midnight Tuesday October 27, further changes to the rules have been revealed.

The Premier hosted a press conference this morning to announce that Melburnians will be allowed to have home visits from 11:59pm tonight.

Restrictions will apply to the home visits, with only two adults allowed to visit another home once a day. Visits must occur within 25km of your own home.

“It’s not a bubble arrangement, you can have different visitors each day, but just the one set of visitors. That’s the most important point,” said Andrews.

The one visit per day rule will apply to both visitors and those who reside at the home they have visited, meaning if you have had guests come to your house you will not be allowed to visit another home or have additional guests in the same day.

“Arguably, your home is the most dangerous place for the spread of this virus,” he said, explaining that people are less likely to be as cautious in the home as they would be in a public space.

“We would also ask that people keep a record of who’s been to their house and when. We don’t think that’s too much to ask,” said Andrews.

The 25km rule is expected to remain in place until November 8, at which time the Premier hopes to allow Melburnians to travel more freely.

Further announcements regarding how home businesses will operate, wearing masks in the gym and more will be revealed this afternoon.
