The news was confirmed on Facebook.

Former drummer of The Drones and established solo musician Mike Noga has died at the age of 42. The news was announced by his sister on Facebook, no cause of death was given.

“We are absolutely devastated to inform you of the passing of our beloved brother, son, uncle and dearest friend Mike,” she wrote.

“We know how much he and his music meant to so many of you and there’s nothing we can say to make this hurt any less. We miss you and love you so much, Mike.”

Noga was a member of The Drones for ten years before departing the band in 2014 to focus on his solo work. Lauded as a songwriting great, he released three solo LPs across his career, Folk SongsThe Balladeer Hunter and King.

Noga was working on his next record after signing to Part Time Records in July and was expected to release new music later this year.
