Get movin', get groovin'

Local DJs at Red Betty

Tucked in a laneway, Red Betty is the coolest new bar and music venue to hit Brunswick this year. Tonight, they’ll be hosting local DJs Lambchop, Petty Cash and Lilstormer for one super funky night. Doors open 6pm. Free entry. More info here.

Outrageous Beats at Bar 303

Tonight, the intimate Bar 303 will be packed to the brim with a diverse selection of local musicians. The huge lineup features Tobacco Rat, Mras Nitzi, Karli White, Horse Macgyver, Aeon Hakyavik, Ravestabber, Neon Merkin and Null Hypothesis. Doors open 7pm. Tickets are $5 to $10 at the door. The Happy Lonesome at Swamplands

Formed in Geelong, The Happy Lonesome are an upbeat country-punk five-piece that are keen to perform their catchy tunes on Saturday May 25. They’ll be joined by local artists The Septembers and Rachel McArthur at Thornbury’s Swamplands. Doors open 9pm. Free entry. More info here.

ZV3 at Edinburgh Castle

ZV3 are a guitar trio that write and play their own original music, along with some standards. With Zeb Viscio on guitar, Robbie Finch on double bass, and Luke Andersen on drums, their styles mimic bop energies, with influences from Monk and Powell, to Rosenwinkel and King Bern. Doors open tonight at 6pm. Entry is free. More info here.

Max Teakle Trio at Charles Weston

Under the pianistic and blues approach of Max Teakle, alongside Blakely McClean Davies and Dom Stitt, are a Melbourne trio that explore intimacy and a deep musical bond and trust. Whether it’s American songbook standards, originals, or more contemporary works by the Beatles, they communicate with long, emotionally arching pieces that resonate with the crowd. They’re playing on Sunday May 26, 4pm – 6pm. Entry is free. More info here.
