Exit Brewing’s award-winning Milk Stout is one of beer’s most eclectic creations

Words by Kate Streader

It’s a winner!

A joint venture between mates Frase and Grum, Exit Brewing was officially born in 2014 when they released their first beer. Over the next few years, the pair grew their offering to a core range including a West Coast-style IPA, an American-style Amber, a Belgian-style Saison, a Milk Stout and a Pale Ale.

Although they like to keep things fresh with experimental brews and limited releases, including sours, collaborations and scotch ales, Exit Brewing’s core range Milk Stout remains a standout.

Velvety on the tongue while offering notes of rich milk chocolate and vanilla bean on the nose, the Milk Stout is deliciously decadent without being overpowering or too rich.

Layered with cocoa, vanilla and toffee, with an Espresso finish, it’s no surprise that this brew took out the 2019 Australian International Beer Awards trophy for Best Stout.

Better yet, you can have it delivered straight to your door during lockdown. Frase and Grum introduced free local delivery for Melburnians when restrictions kicked in, and they’ll keep on bringing brews to you until the pubs reopen.

We’ll drink to that!
