EP premiere: Shock Octopus explore climate anxieties and an uncertain future with ‘Enter The Exit’

Returning with their fourth EP, Shock Octopus have come full circle with Enter The Exit.

A combination of familiar and unexplored territory for Shock Octopus, Enter The Exit is a culmination of electric, environmental anthems and existential ballads.

A fitting soundtrack to the uncertain world we’ve found ourselves in, the EP explores themes of climate change and modern life while marking a new chapter for the Shock Octopus.

Making their beginnings a decade ago as an experimental four-piece in Perth, Shock Octopus’ new EP represents the band’s new era as a trio spread across Melbourne, Darwin and Japan.

Across four tracks, Enter The Exit surveys a broad sonic spectrum, incorporating moody piano arrangements, jangly percussion and lo-fi sensibilities. Looking forward as they explore new sounds while maintaining elements of their ten-year journey making music together, the EP suggests the Shock Octopus story is only just beginning.
