Electro-pop group DUST release sophomore single, ‘The Longest Wave’

The release is far moodier than their first.

Indie electronica duo DUST have unveiled their sophomore single ‘The Longest Wave’.

Telling the story of a dark relationship, the group took inspiration from trip hop, ambient and ’80s synth-pop genres when putting together this track.

‘The Longest Wave’ follows DUST’s debut electro-pop single, ‘Tears of Gold’, which was unveiled in May. Speaking to Beat, one half of DUST, Kim McInnes said the single differs entirely from their previous release.

“The new song has a completely different vibe. ‘Tears of Gold’ is happy electro-pop, driving beats and ‘80s synths bubbling behind the vocals. ‘The Longest Wave’ is DUST’s moodier alter-ego. It starts all smoky and brooding before building to a triumphant finish,” she said.
