Heronswood House and Garden is one of Australia’s finest gardens and is the home of the subversive gardening institution, The Diggers Club.

Heronswood is just an hour’s drive out of Melbourne’s CBD on the Mornington Peninsula and offers breathtaking views of the bay from a spectacular garden setting. The historic home was one of the first in the region and offers a striking example of gothic revival architecture, with incredible gardens developed by Diggers founder Clive Blazey surrounding it.

The garden is a living catalogue of many of the plants The Diggers Club has helped to preserve, with flower borders, mature trees, and extensive food gardens. This was the first public garden in Australia to be certified organic and offers a stunning example of what’s possible in a sustainable, drought tolerant garden. Dine at the Fork to Fork restaurant, check out the new gallery exploring the role of seeds and pollination and grab your own plants and seeds from the onsite nursery. Check the website for regular workshops and don’t miss their annual Harvest Festival in early autumn.

Garden, gallery and garden shop open seven days, 9.00am — 5.00pm.

Fork to Fork is open seven days, 10.00am — 4.00pm.

Garden entry is free for Diggers Club members and under 16s, and $10 for others.
