Dear Matilda

After an impressive first year as a band with achievements including the release of their debut single “Anymore”, and performing numerous high energy shows at venues throughout Melbourne, Dear Matilda have announced their sophomore release, “Today Ain’t The Worst.”

Front woman Gabrielle Matilda known for her vulnerable songwriting says the song’s title reflects “practicing positivity despite being introverted, feeling isolated and struggling to connect or maintain friendships”.

Their debut single received radio play around the country (4ZZZ, 3RRR) and was added to notable Australian indie punk playlist, Tuna Tuesday by record label Domestic La La.

“Today Ain’t The Worst” was written amidst friendship breakups. “There was a lot of change happening in my life emotionally and physically around this time,” Matilda says. “Very few of my friends stuck around to support me, or even stay in contact. That stung way more than any kind of romantic heartbreak I ever have been through, because my friends are so important to me”.

The song was recorded at The Loud Noise Estate in Coburg, along with many more tracks to be released later this year. All featuring on drums Josh Lopez, bass Damon Brammall, lead guitar Jimmy Alexander, and vocals and rhythm guitar Gabrielle Matilda.

In celebration of their new single releasing, Dear Matilda will be hosting a launch show at the iconic Last Chance Rock and Roll bar in Melbourne on Saturday 6th April. Tickets available soon.

“Today Ain’t The Worst” out 1st March on all streaming platforms.
