Gang of Youths frontman David Le’aupepe has announced he is auctioning off his primary guitar from the band’s latest, critically-acclaimed album Go Farther In Lightness for charity.

The guitar in question was used by Le’aupepe to write almost every song on Go Farther In Lightness and can be heard on tracks such as ‘Fear And Trembling’, ‘Say Yes To Life’, ‘The Frankest Shadows’, and more.

You may also recognise the Emerald Green Guild Starfire IV ST 2000 from Gang of Youths’ shows over the past few years, appearing on stage with Le’aupepe at shows between 2016 and 2018, including the band’s 2016 Splendour in the Grass performance.

The guitar is up for live auction now, with proceeds from the sale set to be donated to Texas-based charity Refugee and Immigrant Centre for Education and Legal Service (RAICES).

“It has been part of me through the most significant period in my career and life,” Le’aupepe says of the guitar. “I hope it goes to someone who will use it and love it the way that I did. I hope it finds a loving home so that others in need can find a home in America after having to leave their own.”
