Darude is representing Finland in Eurovision Song Contest

It would be Da-rude not to.

With Eurovision on the horizon, countries are carefully selecting their representatives in the hopes of taking home the title. In the past, we’ve seen the likes of ABBA and Celine Dion take part in the Eurovision Song Contest and now, Finnish DJ Darude will soon join the prestigious list of alumni.

Chances are you’ve gotten weird to the absolute banger that is Darude’s ‘Sandstorm’ at least once in your life, and now the multi-award winning DJ will take on the global stage with a new track. In the lead up to the international competition, Darude will release three new tunes before a panel of judges whittle down the choices to one ultimate track. The winning song will serve as his entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

Darude has called in the help of vocalist Sebastian Rejman to bring his tunes to life in a live setting and chances are, it’s going to be pretty explosive. Considering the monumental effect of ‘Sandstorm’ across the world and a 20-year strong career, his competitors should be feeling a little unsettled by news of his participation.

“This is a huge challenge for me in many ways, when I was asked to represent Finland I felt a bit scared at first, but there was no way I could say no to my country,” said Darude in a statement.

“It is an honour to be part of this incredible experience and I only have positive expectations.”
