On Friday October 26, as part of Darebin Music Feast, South Sudanese females will be taking over Northcote Town Hall. Our Voices, Inc. presents a special edition of Sudo Girls Talk that celebrates talented musicians and poets within the South Sudanese Australian community.

The current line-up for the event includes Atong Agoth, a singer and year 12 student that hopes to make YouTube song covers with other young South Sudanese girls in the future, and 17-year-old Rhoda, who will share her experiences as a young queer African-Australian woman. Another young woman, Manuxella is a 19-year-old singer songwriter and dancer who is currently completing her Bachelor degree before pursuing a music career. Rapper Yung Baddie will make an appearance using her form of expression to promote healing and discovery as she continues to find her place in the world as well as Lizzy Kuoth, a youth leader who’s becoming a political social scientist and is passionate about communities being safe for all.

The night will be led by MC Flora Chol who is unapologetically proud of her Dinka heritage and a Pan Africanist – believing in a free, self-reliant and self-defining Africa. In her leisure time, Flora is a tea enthusiast and MC (MC Flo).

Our Voices, Inc. is both an online and offline space for women of colour. This space they’ve created aims to promote and encourage the work of ostracised women in Australia.
