Dan Kelly & The Alpha Males reunite for a huge one-off Melbourne show

Dan Kelly

Celebrating 15 years of their massive debut.

Aussie rocker Dan Kelly is heading to Melbourne’s Gasometer Hotel and he’s bringing the Alpha Males along for the ride.

This year marks 15 years since the release of Sing the Tabloid Blues, and the crew are gearing up to relive the record in all its glory. The Alpha Males’ previous reunion was in 2016 and it turned out to be a hell of a show. This time round, they’ll be supported by garage-pop outfit Loose Tooth.

The ARIA-nominated debut album saw the band perform at Big Day Out and Falls Festival back in the day. Kelly said tracks from Sing the Tabloid Blues were inspired by his lack of direction at the time.

“They started out quite gentle and jokey, then once I started playing them with the guys, they mutated into something tough and swinging. My dining table acoustic numbers turned into crazed guitar music. I was terrified,” he said.

“To come back to these songs 15 years on, with some perspective and a lot more miles under all of our belts, it’s gonna be an adventure.”

Catch Dan Kelly & the Alpha Males’ reunion show at the Gasometer Hotel on Saturday December 7. Tickets available Monday September 16 via Moshtix.
