Combining elements of beer and cider, Darraweit Valley Cider have bottled the best of both worlds

Where craft beer and craft cider collide.

Almost ten years ago, Marc Serafino left his life as a head chef in inner-city Melbourne behind, on a quest for the perfect cider apples. Unable to satisfy his search, he decided in order to find what he was looking for, he may as well do it himself, and Darraweit Valley Cider was born.

The heart of Serafino’s business occupies 42 acres in the Macedon Ranges, a sprawling orchard of apples with a cider house on the property. He’s been running his operation from here since it was officially established in 2014, perfecting two signature styles of cider as well as some interesting and flavourful additions.

Bringing the worlds of craft beer and cider together, Darraweit Valley Cider’s most lauded product is their Citra Hopped Apple Cider. With a light, hoppy infusion, this semi-dry brew is easy on the palate, crisp and well balanced without the garish sweetness you often find in fruit ferments.

They’ve got a special batch in the works for their 2020 harvest, with plans to release a Dark Apple brew for winter. Made with coffee beans and dark molasses, it’ll be a beverage befitting the coming cold months.
