Cherry Bar will reopen in AC/DC Lane for a limited time

The scheduled move is taking a little longer than expected.

At the end of March, Cherry Bar closed the doors of its iconic AC/DC Lane venue for good. Or so we thought. Although the venue is scheduled to move to a different location in the CBD soon – the specifics of which are currently being kept under wraps – the move is taking a bit longer than expected.

In a statement on Facebook, the venue announced that it will be reopening just one month after hosting its Farewell Month. Cherry Bar explained that the logistics of the impending move have kept them in their current digs for longer than expected, so they may as well get some bands on the stage while they wait.

“It’s a bit embarrassing to host a huge Farewell Month in March at Cherry only to re-open in May, BUT it’s even more embarrassing to not let local bands play at Cherry when we’re paying rent and the bar is just sitting there waiting to be used,” reads the statement. “In summary, “Fuck it! We’re re-opening Cherry Bar next weekend. See you there. The bitch is back!”

There’s no word as to how long Cherry Bar will continue to operate out of its AC/DC Lane location or whether this means there will be a round two to their mammoth farewell party just gone, but regardless, this is definitely welcomed news to Melbourne live music lovers.

Cherry Bar will reopen on Friday May 3. Head to the venue’s Facebook page for more details.
