Your favourite punks are back.

Fresh off the back of signing an international deal with America’s Merge Records, Melbourne’s fierce trio Cable Ties have announced they’ve got a new album on the way.

Set for release in March, Far Enough sees the band expanding on the proto-punk sound and defiant songwriting that has garnered them a dedicated following both at home and abroad.

The band have also delivered the first taste of the forthcoming record, today unveiling the first single from the album, ‘Sandcastles’.

“‘Sandcastles’ is aimed at a figurative individual who doesn’t have any interest in making positive changes in society or participating in open and productive discussions about political and social issues,” says the band’s guitarist and vocalist, Jenny McKechnie.

“Rather, they set themselves up as the gatekeepers of progressive groups by aggressively policing language and immediately casting out anyone who doesn’t abide by the codes of behaviour they have created.

“This turns purportedly intersectional, progressive groups into exclusive clubs only accessible to people with homogeneous opinions, social and economic backgrounds and ways of speaking.”
