The beloved weekly Sunday event is back.
Sunset Sounds is returning to Melbourne this summer, bringing with it free concerts to Stonnington’s beautiful parks and gardens in January.
For the first instalment of its 2020 run of concerts, rising neo-soul outfit Billy Davis & the Good Lords will perform alongside jazz singer/songwriter Tanya George. Davis has been busy in 2019; releasing new singles, ‘Headspace’ and ‘Wilderness’, the songwriter also joined Ruel on his national tour through September and October. More recently, Davis headed up Melbourne Music Week’s The Operatives showcase at the festival’s hub, Kubik. This Sunset Sounds concert goes down on Sunday January 5 at Prahran’s Victoria Gardens.
The Northern Folk lead the charge for the second instalment of the series and will be joined by Rach Brennan & The Pines for the following week’s concert. Born out of Albury, The Northern Folk combine powerful vocals, horns, bass and percussion to create a sound that is like nothing else. This concert goes down on Sunday January 12 at Malvern East’s Central Park.
For the third and final concert of Sunset Sounds, the City of Stonnington have prepared a bumper lineup featuring acclaimed Indigenous soul singer-songwriter Emma Donovan alongside rising talent Laneous. Donovan has become one of Melbourne’s most pronounced female vocalists, forging quite the reputation alongside her renowned live band, The Putbacks. This will be a solo show though and it goes down on Sunday January 19 at Malvern Gardens.
