The biggest music industry gathering in the Southern Hemisphere returns to The Valley in September.

After being forced to present last year’s event digitally, Brisbane’s annual music conference BIGSOUND is set to return to Fortitude Valley in September. As usual, the event will feature a diverse program of live music performances and industry panels.

Following the chaos of 2020, this year BIGSOUND will focus on building a new future for the music industry.

Happening over three days, this year’s event will kick off with the BIGSOUND Indigenous Showcase and Women in Music event on Tuesday September 7, with industry leaders to gather at the BIGSOUND Conference on Wednesday and Thursday to tackle issues such as the post-COVID music landscape, gender equality, safety, innovation, inclusivity, and more.

Of an evening, BIGSOUND Festival will take over The Valley’s sprawling live music venues to showcase 150 emerging Australian artists.

Applications for the BIGSOUND artist showcase are now open and will close on May 28.

“Never before has connection for our music community been more important,” said Angela Samut, QMusic CEO and BIGSOUND Executive Producer.

“Our commitment to rebuilding a stronger, safer, more inclusive industry as we emerge from COVID has never been greater and BIGSOUND is once again stepping up to the plate as the place where people come to discover the future of music and to be part of the future of
music.”

The annual Levi’s Music Prize will also return in partnership with BIGSOUND, contributing $90,000 in cash prizes including $15K to be awarded to three artists selected to showcase at BIGSOUND 2021.
