Big Thief have dropped a collection of demos for unreleased tracks

All proceeds from sales of the demos will go to the band’s roadies.

Big Thief have announced the release of five demos of tracks that haven’t appeared on any of the band’s records, available exclusively through Bandcamp.

Titled Demos Vol. 1 – Topanga Canyon, CA – Feb 2018, the collection also includes a couple of songs that appeared in a different form on frontwoman Adrianne Lenker’s 2018 solo album, Abysskiss.

The demos were recorded in 2018 in a cabin in Topanga Canyon, California where the band spent a month recording 34 demos, many of which would later appear on last year’s releases UFOF and Two Hands.

Now, Big Thief have made five of those demos available for purchase to help raise money for their roadies.

“100% of the funds we receive from this release will go to our faithful road crew, whose income has been impacted by the disruption in our touring schedule,” said the band in a statement. “They are the lifeblood of the Big Thief shows and we care so deeply for each and every one of them.”

Considering the band have titled the collection Demos Vol. 1, it seems safe to assume that they’ll be revealing more of the recordings from their month-long session in Topanga Canyon.

Head to Big Thief’s Bandcamp to purchase Demos Vol. 1 – Topanga Canyon, CA – Feb 2018.
