In a bid to tackle the plastic waste clogging Sydney waterways and promote awareness about the impact plastic and littering have on the environment, Beat The Bottle will be hosting a part concert, part clean-up initiative.

Purple Sneakers and Junkyard Beats will be joining community group Good for the Hood, an organisation aimed at educating the public on sustainability and waste reduction, for the event. In addition to performances by the bands and a clean-up of the Parramatta River, Junkyard Beats will host an interactive workshop in which they will teach a music lesson using recycled instruments.

Paramatta’s clean-up follows Beat the Bottle events in Manly and Wollongong earlier this year, the first series seeing an overall collection of over 350kgs of rubbish and upwards of 350 participants.

As well as taking part in workshops and experiencing intimate riverside performances, attendees will receive a free stainless steel reusable water bottle to help them kick off their plastic-free journey.
