Baker Boy to headline Dragon City Sounds concert this weekend

Words by Tom Parker

He’ll be joined by Dallas Woods and Aswang for the show.

A free online gig is going down at Bendigo’s Ulumbarra Theatre this weekend headlined by revered Aussie hip hop artist Baker Boy. Taking place on Sunday October 25 at 4pm, Dragon City Sounds will also see rising talent Dallas Woods take to the stage with local Bendigo group Aswang rounding out the lineup.

Developed by The City of Greater Bendigo, the event will be broadcast on the Bendigo Venues & Events YouTube channel and comes at an important time. With COVID-19 having plagued Bendigo in recent times, Dragon City Sounds will be just the infusion of positivity and optimism the local community needs.

Baker Boy needs no introduction having been named the Young Australian of the Year 2019 while also taking home the esteemed Artist of the Year award at the recent National Indigenous Music Awards for the second year in a row.

Then there’s Dallas Woods – the exciting rapper and MC who supported Baker Boy on his first-ever headline tour in 2018. The jaunt around the country came in support of Baker Boy’s breakout hit ‘Marryuna’ which climbed to #17 on the triple j Hottest 100 of 2017.

The beauty of Dragon City Sounds is that it’s not just reserved for Bendigo music lovers, but punters from Melbourne and beyond will be able to tune into the event.

Dragon City Sounds goes down on Sunday October 25 via the Bendigo Venues & Events YouTube channel. For more info, check out the Bendigo website.
