Author David Sedaris returns to Australia

Words by Joshua Martin

The acclaimed writer drops in.

Author David Sedaris can’t get enough of Australia, with the announcement of his fifth book tour. Sedaris is coming off the back of the release of the best-selling Calypso last year, a collection of 21 semi-autobiographical essays. The audiobook of Calypso, funnily enough, was nominated for a 2019 Grammy in the Best Spoken Word Album category.

The upcoming tour is billed as a series of “live performances”, comprising of storytelling, life observations, unpublished tales, audience Q&As and his legendary book signings. Last year, New York Times profile showed Sedaris signing books until 1am at a reading at the Kennedy centre. The author is known for his raw and raucous spoken word performances as much as his prolific essay-writing.
