Aussie rock legends Zoot are reforming for a handful of shows

The gigs will be dedicated to the band’s late lead singer, Darryl Cotton.

One of Australia’s most loved bands of the late ’60s and early ’70s, Zoot, will reform for four exclusive shows in November.

Comprising Beeb Birtles, Rick Springfield, Rick Brewer and special guest Russell Morris, in place of the band’s frontman Darryl Cotton who died of liver cancer in 2012, the reunion will celebrate 50 years of the band’s debut album Just Zoot.

With its members each moving on to big things following the band’s split in ’71 – Birtles founding Little River Band, Brewer joining The Ferrets and Rick Springfield taking over the US as a solo artist – Zoot have been dubbed a “supergroup in reverse”. Now, half a century on from making their debut with Just Zoot, the band will return to the stage.

As well as welcoming Morris into the band for the upcoming shows, the Zoot reunion will also see Little River Band’s Roger McLachlan getting in on the action on bass.

“I think Zoot 2020 will be truly extraordinary,” says Brewer. “We made history together and individually, and we are going to make history again in 2020.”
