Augie March are hitting Melbourne Recital Centre to celebrate 21 years of ‘Sunset Studies’

The beloved band are returning to the stage.

We recently chatted to Glenn Richards, the frontman of Augie March, who noted the band were hoping to recommence their initially-upended Sunset Studies tour, one that was first planned for May 2020.

Now, those dreams have become a reality as the band today announced they would be hitting Melbourne Recital Centre for two special shows as part of the epic RISING festival program that’s just been revealed.

Performing on Wednesday May 26 and Thursday May 27, Augie March will be performing all the hits from that fateful release – one that set the band up for success, and one that garnered plenty of critical praise for its fervour to push the boundaries of regular songwriting.

Whether it was ‘Asleep in Perfection’, ‘There Is No Such Place’ or ‘The Hole in Your Roof’, to name a few, the release revealed a band at the peak of their creative powers, and one that could step between genres at a whim – whether it was rock’n’roll, traditional folk balladry or more scenic ambient sounds.

The band have released five more acclaimed studio albums since the release of Sunset Studies, and remain an adored outfit on the Australian music landscape.
