Ara Koufax and Simona Castricum announce second audiovisual show at The Capitol

Words by Arielle Richards

Performing two captivating pieces.

If you’re kicking yourself for missing out on the first double billing of iconic Melbourne-based producers Ara Koufax and producer/performer Simona Castricum, you’re in luck. A second show has been announced, screening at RMIT’s beloved subterranean theatre, The Capitol.

The gig will be an audiovisual extravaganza, with two special screenings accompanied by live performances by the respective artists – Ara Koufax, whose place in the Melbourne techno hall of fame has been long-established, and Simona Castricum, whose thought-forward electronic-pop music has driven a producing and DJing career spanning two decades and three full-length albums.

Ara Koufax’s experimental film SCREAM, produced especially for Melbourne Music Week, is an encompassing audiovisual experience, meditating on themes of psychic violence in a visual display of every day horror. With an accompanying soundscape made up of all-new music and performed live by the venerated duo, SCREAM will be an unmissable experience.

SCREAM is followed by Panic/Desire, Castricum’s performance of her namesake third album. Panic/Desire is an audio visual representation of Castricum’s architecture PHD dissertation, contemplating an allegory about gender non-conformity between digital and urban realms.

Ara Koufax and Simona Castricum come to The Capitol on Tuesday February 23. Secure your tickets here.
