You Am I, G Flip, Cosmo’s Midnight, Hiatus Kaiyote and more are locked in for the new event.

Going down at the St Kilda Triangle next to the iconic Palais Theatre, April Sun will allow attendees to book single tickets to each gig and hang out in a position of their choice in each zone, letting them enjoy all the action in a COVIDSafe manner – and yes, dancing is allowed.

Each night will see the St Kilda Triangle come alive with a new event, with the program’s first announcement offering up a smorgasbord of headline shows, mini-festivals and day parties for punters of all ages to enjoy.

The festivities are set to kick off on Friday April 16 with a massive launch party presented by the legends at Future Classic, with the likes of G Flip, Touch Sensitive, Sycco and Thomas Headon bringing their groove-laden sounds to the foreshore and taking the party late into the evening.

Meanwhile, Saturday April 16 will see Sneaky Sound System, Electric Fields, Jawbreakers and a bunch of other hot acts take over the St Kilda Triangle for the POOF DOOF DAY DOOF, which might just be one of the most anticipated events of the initial program.

St Kilda’s rock ‘n roll faithful will be treated to a four-pronged attack of blistering loud guitars on Thursday April 22 when local legends You Am I, Magic Dirt, Dallas Crane and The Casanovas take to the Triangle, while Saturday April 24 will see Melbourne electronic royalty Thick As Thieves throw down for a beachside rave of mass proportions.

If that’s not enough, April Sun have locked in a triple threat of Cosmo’s Midnight, Eves Karydas & ASHWARYA to kick things up a notch on Thursday April 29, while Sydney grime don CHILLINIT will take to the stage over two consecutive nights on Friday April 30 and Saturday May 1 to treat local fans to a taste of his latest release Full Circle.

Finally, neo-soul pioneers Hiatus Kaiyote and nu-disco sensation Harvey Sutherland are teaming up for one final fling on Sunday May 2, with the two local legends teasing a number of special guests to help them close out what looks to be a mammoth month of live music.

Check out all the dates and details below. Tickets for all shows go on sale from 11am AEDT on Friday March 5, and with a lineup like this, we can’t imagine they’ll be hanging around for long. Move quick!
