Apple has released a new iPod Touch model

Talk about a throwback.

Apple has just unveiled a new iPod Touch for the first time in four years. It’s the seventh generation of the product.

The new model will come with a four-inch (diagonal) screen, Group FaceTime, augmented reality features, a 3.5mm headphone jack and the same processing chip that’s currently being used in the iPhone 7. A 256GB option is now available for the first time in the iPod Touch’s history. The new model does not come with Touch ID or Face ID.

It’s not exactly clear why Apple is bringing back what is essentially a phone with calling capabilities. But as Rolling Stone reports, it might have something to do with the slump in iPhone sales.

The new iPod Touch is available to order online now. If Apple could bring out a new model of the discontinued (and highly underrated) iPod Classic next, that’d be great.
