An official ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel is coming

This is not a drill; man your station, guard the wall, and grab your dragon glass – HBO have ordered a prequel series to their mammoth success and cult hit, Game of Thrones. For you diehard fans, don’t fret: the pilot episode for the untitled series was created by George R.R. Martin and Jane Goldman.

The only genuine fact we have is the logline of the proposed series, which states “it’s not the story we think we know…” Just like everyone else who got hooked on the drama, daggers, and dragons of Westeros, we’re frothing for any kind of info. Sadly, HBO has remained tight-lipped and haven’t even gifted us with a launch date.

Apparently, there is – as of yet – no plan to launch the new series before Game of Thrones’ finale in 2019. HBO President and resident Gretchen Wieners when it comes to our favourite shows, Casey Bloys, stated that they will not use the finale to “launch a new show or anything like that.”

At risk of inciting a fully-fledged riot on the scale of the Battle of Blackwater, Bloys gave us a final morsel of info to keep us at bay, stating that “there’s going to be a separation… These are among the best writers working and I’m hopeful.”
