An album of previously unheard Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash collaborations is on its way

As part of Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings’ Bob Dylan Bootleg Series, Tavelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 leads listeners to Nashville through a collection of duet recordings between Dylan and Johnny Cash.

The three-disk collection comprises 47 previously unreleased tracks, including recordings from a full-day session between Dylan and Cash, collaborations with GRAMMY Award winning bluegrass banjo player Earl Scruggs and alternate versions of tracks written for 1967’s John Wesley Harding and 1969’s Nashville Skyline, including a previously unreleased outtake titled ‘Western Road’.

Bob asked me to be a guest on the album,” said Cash following the release of Nashville Skyline, “and I went to the studio and they just turned on the recorder for about two hours.”

While much of the material recording during that session didn’t make it onto the album, those recordings will finally see the light of day with this forthcoming release. Set to be released on CD, vinyl and digital platforms, Travelin’ Thru is a collector’s piece you’ll want to get your mitts on.

Travelin’ Thru, 1967 – 1969: The Bootleg Series Vol. 15 is due for release on November 1 via Sony. Pre-order a copy here
