The ‘Industry Insight’ session will take place at SAE Creative Media Institute’s Melbourne campus.
Alex Lahey and Gordi are both award-winning artists, and haven’t established their reputation for nothing. Having recently teamed up on 2021 single, ‘Dino’s’, the duo had forged their own unique paths prior to that.
Lahey’s got two critically-acclaimed studio albums to her name while Gordi is the same – with last year’s Our Two Skins establishing her as an international talent.

With their array of experiences, challenges and achievements, both Lahey and Gordi, aka Sophie Payten, have established an understanding for the industry that’s invaluable for aspiring artists.
As such, the two of them are coming together to host SAE Creative Media Institute‘s upcoming ‘Industry Insight’ session at the institute’s South Melbourne campus. The session, which will also see the artists perform one of their original tracks together, will give the musicians of tomorrow an important gauge on how the music business operates and behaves.
“We’re stoked to be sharing our perspective on what it means to be professional musicians in this evolving industry,” Lahey said of the session. “I think it’s really empowering for students to hear that no one has all the answers. It’s going to be great to have the opportunity to share the stage with Gordi and have an honest discussion about music, business and creativity with people.”
Lahey, who was nominated for Breakthrough Artist at the 2018 ARIA Awards, is passionate about greater female representation across the music industry – something which she will look to explore at the event.
“To have an industry that is only reflective and representative of one group of people is not indicative of the real world. I feel really passionately about female representation in our industry – not just on festival posters, but also behind the scenes – and to eliminate gender-based pay discrepancies,” Lahey said.
