ABBA will be releasing new music this year

Mama Mia, here we go again!

After more than 35 years, ABBA is releasing new music. According to Variety, ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus has confirmed that fans can expect a new song “in September or October”. The two songs set for release are titled ‘I Still Have Faith In You’ and ‘Don’t Shut Me Down’.

This comes a year after ABBA announced they had recorded two new songs for a “Virtual ABBA” experience and world tour. The songs will be performed by Abbatars that look like Bjorn, Benny, Agnetha and Anni-Frid from the 1970s. The project is in collaboration with American Idol creator Simon Fuller and was scheduled to premiere at the end of last year.

So what happened? Well, it turns out that transforming ABBA into Abbatars is quite precarious. It looks like ABBA needs to send out an SOS.

Ulvaeus told Denmark newspaper Ekstra Bladet that it’s taken an “extremely long time” to create the Abbatars and has been “delayed too long”. Benny Andersson also hinted at the delays being the result of legal troubles, according to The Guardian.

However, it looks like the delays might be over and hopefully fans can expect to say Thank You for the Music soon.
