A supergroup of Aussie and NZ favourites are teaming up to perform Neil Young’s ‘Live Rust’

Rock’n’roll can never die.

Some of Australia and New Zealand’s favourite musicians are teaming up to tackle Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s seminal album Live Rust on stage in May.

Grinspoon frontman Phil Jamieson will join The Superjesus’ Sarah McLeod, Shihad’s Jon Toogood and Jebediah’s Bob Evans for a live tribute in Sydney before all but Jamieson bring the performance to Melbourne.

The shows come on the back of last year’s New Zealand jaunt, which saw Samuel Flynn Scott, SJD, Delaney Davidson, Reb Fountain, Brett Adams, Dianne Swann, Matthias Jordan and Jol Mulholland taking their Live Rust tribute around the country for a sold-out run. Now, they’ll make their way across the pond to join Jamieson, McLeod, Toogood and Evans for an epic homage to one of the most revered albums of all time.

The performances will see the supergroup tackling a huge range of Young’s hits across two sets. Part one will feature a career-spanning selection of tunes while the second part of the performance will feature a track-by-track performance of Live Rust.

Recorded in 1978 during Young and Crazy Horse’s Rust Never Sleeps Tour, the album features favourites such as ‘Hey Hey, My My (Out of the Blue)’, ‘Powderfinger’ and ‘Sedan Delivery’.

The tribute shows come to State Theatre, Sydney on Thursday May 7 and Palais Theatre, Melbourne on Saturday May 9.

Tickets are on sale now.
