A day festival celebrating African and First Nations artists is rolling into Melbourne

Paying homage to the sounds that shape the city.

A one-day festival celebrating the talent bursting from Melbourne’s African and First Nation communities is arriving at the Immigration Museum in late November.

Blue Black Beatz will showcase the bustling soul, hip hop, afro, reggae and gwara gwara sounds coming out of the city. While the seven-hour event may end at 10pm, an official afterparty has been organised for those who still have an urge to boogie.

The festival lineup has been curated by Afro Hub, an organisation that offers a platform for African talent. Making their way to the museum for Blue Black Beatz are afro-funk outfit Cool Out Sun, rapper Krown, R&B up-and-comer Akosia, Indigenous pop stars The Merindas and heaps more.
