Do you have aspirations of country manors, roaring fires, fine scotch and a life of aristocratic luxury? The Grand Hotel and its Library Lounge Bar can tide you over until you can afford the real thing. After all, a lack of finances shouldn't prevent you from swanning around in Versace bathrobes and cashmere slippers while reading the paper and enjoying a shandy. You might get 'looks' if you show up at the iconic Grand Hotel in your bathrobe, but the Library Lounge Bar certainly evokes that country manor luxury. With its plum leather armchairs, plush carpets, ornate fittings and subdued lighting, it's a step back in time. All of this complimented with a proper library of classics, which you're welcome to peruse. Alternatively, you can engage a friend in a game of chess, stoke the fireplace, or discuss your invasion of upper Manchuria over drinks. Attached to the hotel's piano bar and Champagne room, the drink selection is as upmarket as you'd expect. If you're looking for some serious scotch/rum/whisky there's a world-class selection to choose from. Alternatively, the experienced bar staff can construct any cocktail you might get a hankering for. Sure, it's not the same as owning your own country manor and having a butler at your beck and call, but the Library Lounge Bar certainly makes you appreciate the finer things in life, work that little bit harder to afford them, or, at the very least, provide a wonderful little library to read the classics.
