The Fox might be located away from the main Collingwood strip, but it attracts a dedicated following. Refurbished in recent years, the new fit-out combines old-school charm with contemporary influences. The end result is a casual local with an acclaimed menu and several different areas to sip your beer.

While the frontbar has a classic pub atmosphere with a warm and inviting dining room, it's the rooftop bar that will surprise first-time visitors. The Fox may look like a thousand other corner hotels from the outside, but the rooftop offers sweeping views of the city and charming, retro decor. If it's a little cold to be hanging around a rooftop, you can always take advantage of the regular beer garden or pull up a bar stool downstairs. The point is, there are plenty of options.

There's also plenty of alcohol to choose from. The beer selection at The Fox is absolutely huge and takes in selections from all over the world. While the usual suspects are all present and accounted for, you'll also find beers from Russia, Finland and various African countries, with a host of local micro-brews to round out the options. The wine list may not be as spectacular, but there's plenty to choose from and the prices are reasonable. If you want a little something to go with your bottle of red, the dinner menu is critically acclaimed. Hang about on weekends and you'll find a host of local acts and DJs in the bandroom.
