Birmingham Hotel

The Birmingham has a low-key, relaxed atmosphere. Some would describe it as well-worn and grungy. Whatever you want t to call it, there's no denying the old-school credentials of the venue. It hasn't been renovated in quite some time and the locals are happy to keep it that way. After all, working folks still need somewhere to get a pint in. And so do broke students in dire punk bands. The Birmingham has both markets cornered. Beer is the preferred drink at the Birmingham Hotel - or 'The Birmy', if you prefer. And we don't mean fancy, 'I come from the south of France and wear cufflinks' beer. This is Coopers' territory. While there are a few imported ales behind the bar, it's nothing to get your hopes up about. Similarly, it's a brave soul who walks in here and orders a cocktail. Or anything more elaborate than a Bundy and coke. The furniture and decor is what you would expect from a pub of this character. Simple, slightly faded, but not without it's charm. A couple of pool tables and some pinball machines are also on hand to help pass the time. But if you're looking to rub shoulders with some punk bands, university students and 'older gentlemen', then you'll find plenty of characters lurking around the Birmingham at any given time of the day or night.
