Bimbo Deluxe

Bimbo Deluxe is a Fitzroy institution. It's also incredibly busy around 7pm every weeknight, which is when the already cheap pizzas come down to a ridiculous $4. You'll find a wide cross-section of the community on hand to take advantage of the prices, and the various tables and chairs scattered throughout the building fill up well in advance.

While gourmet pizzas are obviously a drawcard there's more to this venue than that. Bimbo Deluxe is a large, multi-storey (former) pub with a cavernous ground floor, various nooks and crannies and a rooftop bar. Dimly lit and furnished with a miscellaneous scattering of couches, it's the sort of place where you can recover from a big night out with a cold beer, a plush couch or a pool table, and a group of friends. Beer is definitely the preferred beverage at Bimbo (it goes well with the budget pizzas), but you'll find a whole lot of boozing options at wallet-friendly prices. Chivas Regal is the house Scotch and sells for less than a nasty Scotch at most venues. Meanwhile, infused vodkas are a speciality (try the Redskin vodka for a slice of childhood) and there's also a small selection of cocktails and wines.

Entertainment is provided throughout the week courtesy of DJs and what starts as a buzzy casual restaurant in the early evening transforms into more of a grungy bar as the night wears on. Either way, Bimbo Deluxe is always popular and well worth a visit.
