You know you're doing something right when your venue has its own Wikipedia page. A positive write-up from Lonely Planet ("the world's best jazz club") is another feather in the cap. Multiple wins for Best Venue at the Australian Jazz Awards are just icing on the cake. With that kind of track record, it's little wonder everyone from Prince and Harry Connick Jr to the The Cat Empire have performed impromptu jam sessions at Bennetts Lane Jazz Club. As impressive as the accolades are, Bennetts Lane is a relaxed, modest venue. It's also rather intimate and the limited corner tables are snapped up swiftly. If you don't fancy standing around nursing a drink, then it's best to get in early. Still, it's all about the music, and Bennetts Lane takes their jazz rather seriously - it's this dedication that has seen them win so many accolades over the years. It also comes with a few caveats, namely, talking during the performances is a no-no and God help you if your mobile should go off during a performance. That said, if you want to see some of the world's best jazz musicians while enjoying a bourbon on the rocks (or a beer, or cocktail, or wine), then Bennetts Lane Jazz Club has a well deserved international reputation.
