Beer Deluxe take their amber liquid seriously. There's a massive selection of imported beers, a feature wall dedicated to famous beer related quotes ("Work is the cause of the drinking class". Oscar Wilde) and their whole shtick is all about the hops and barley. Located within Federation Square, Beer DeLuxe serves as the main drinking den for whatever festival or exhibition happens to be on. There are two outdoor beer gardens (one upstairs, one on the ground floor), the main bar and a lounge area that faces out onto the main thoroughfare. If you're not in the mood for boozing, the lounge area also offers a selection of teas, coffees, cakes and ice-cream. Why you'd come to Beer DeLuxe for ice-cream is a mystery, but the option is there if you want to get weird. And in keeping with the rest of Federation Square, the decor is sleek and contemporary. To the designer's credit, they haven't attempted to create some kind of faux British pub or anything along those lines. The actual beer menu is, as you would expect, spectacular. There are over 80 beer related options, and each different style of beer is explained with a short, historic overview. If you're not careful you may actually learn something while perusing the options. Like the fact their are only seven Monasteries in the world with the right to label their beer 'Trappist'. With a relaxed vibe and close proximity to 'art and culture' Beer DeLuxe is a great location to try out some exotics brews, or just some regular ones. Suffice it to say, if you like beer, then you'll feel right at home.
