Baraki Upo Mezethes

Baraki Upo Mezethes combines north Mediterranean style with religious iconography to create a unique bar experience. A cosmopolitan mix of bar, restaurant and live venue, it's a relaxed and comfortable place to slink in for a quiet drink or start your night off.

That laidback vibe stems directly from the venue's Mediterranean influences. Limestone walls bring to mind sun-baked coastal towns and the wall of Greek religious figures and icons really brings the point home. All this is offset with some charming floral wallpaper and ornate lamps. The seating is divided between cosy armchairs and ottomans in one corner, with proper dinning tables hidden around the corner from the front bar. The scene is set with a menu that implores you to "ask for lots of our own made peasant bread and feel free to make a mess".

If you're not there to eat (and the food comes highly recommended), there's plenty of alcohol to choose from: a good selection of cocktails, European beers and plenty of wine. Naturally, you can also find some exotic Ouzo and Sambuca lurking behind the counter. Show up on a weeknight and you'll find the house band knocking out a selection of soul, jazz and R&B late into the evening. Saturday nights are a little more up-tempo with DJs taking over.
