Singer songwriter and guitarist Mike Barnes put together The Staffords in 2011 when he found himself with a bevy of snappy tunes but no band with which to play them. Over the period of a year he found two like minded souls who shared his love for catchy music with something to say. With Corey Gaal on drums and Phoebe Neilson on double bass they founded a trio that maintain an emphasis on melody and efficiency over typical rock and roll histrionics. Barnes brings a deep love and knowledge of popular music to his craft, demonstrating himself as a songwriter who is both spontaneously effortless and meticulously thorough in his approach. Having three talented vocalists in the band also proves that The Staffords are no one man show, and as a unit add up to more than the sum of their parts. The band was fortunate to have The Living End's Chris Cheney produce their debut single, 'Hollow To The Core'.
