Enerate are an Inner-West Sydney based Acoustic Synth Pop group. The Band is currently unsigned, and have been releasing material independently through their website. The group have enjoyed, early success with their pre-release single “Unstoppable” getting airplay across FBi radio. Enerate have played alongside the likes of Bears With Guns, The Brow Horn Orchestra, Holland, Samuel Mason and Leroy Lee to name a few. In a recent interview Josh said “Enerate is all about pop hooks, simple acoustic guitar, bangin synth lines, smooth bass, and drums with a hip hop groove. Simplicity is key.”.. “Think of it as Neil Young if he was really into Gorillaz and Metronomy, and owned an 808. He probably does these days, i wouldn’t put it past him.” Frontman, multi-instrumentalist Josh Graham started Enerate as a solo project in The Blue Mountains (West of Sydney) two years ago, and spent the last year producing a solo demo album with a full-band sound, but along the way Josh realised he would need many more musicians to turn the album “Good Times Airlines” into a live show. He called up fellow Blue Mountainer Matt Niciak and got him on board for bass guitar. The Album has an honest, soulful, spacious feel, and Josh said he drew a lot of inspiration from growing up in the mountains. Enerate is now a four piece, the full lineup is: Josh Graham - Vocals, Guitars & Production. Matt Niciak - Bass. Ben Fitzpatrick - Drums & Percussion. Therese Watson - Vocals, Synths & Samples... Enerate’s first public performances were at The Old Sydney Mint at a showcase for advertising company Ignite Media Brands On the 5th of November 2011 that a friend had asked them to appear at. Soon after they were playing more shows around Sydney, gaining momentum in the indie scene, playing key venues such as Oxford Art Factory and FBi Social. In late November, Enerate put out the Pre-Release Josh had produced entitled “The Good Times Airlines Pre-Flight Showing”. Unstoppable was the first single, released digitally November 7 2011. By mid February the single was #3 in the Triple J Unearthed Indie Charts and was picked up by Sydney radio station FBi, and was featured in their “Best From New Music Open Day” Podcast. After a packed out show at the Gaelic Theatre (RIP), The band have locked in a producer for the full release of “Good Times Airlines” and will head into the studio in this September to finish the final record. They have reportedly been having meetings with a Sydney Indie label, but have not signed at this point. On April 30, it was announced that Enerate have a total of four nominations in the 2012 MusicOz Awards. They’re up for “Best Alternative” on top of another three awards spanning across the Pop and Electronic categories. With “Unstoppable” just licenced for an international MTV tourism campain, the Official Video Clip in the making, and the band’s first East Coast tour, it’s Good Times Ahead!
